Webinar on Direct & Indirect Taxes, 4th August 2022, Virtual Platform


The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry had organized a Webinar on Direct & Indirect Taxes on 4th August, 2022 on Zoom.

Opening remarks was given by Mr. Vivek Jalan, Chairperson Fiscal Affairs Committee (including Direct Taxes), The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Partner, Tax Connect Advisory Services LLP.

Mr. Sailen Sammadar, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax Department and Mr. Manas Mandal, Additional Commissioner from Income Tax Department joined as Special Guests and deliberated on TDS uƒs 194R : A Departmental Perspective and Expectations from Assessees.

Technical Session I & II were on Direct Taxes. Technical Session I was addressed by Mr. Vivek Jalan, Chairperson Fiscal Affairs Committee (including Direct Taxes), The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Partner, Tax Connect Advisory Services LLP on ITR Filing for Trade & Industry for the AY 202223 with an analysis of important changes and issues, Tax Audit Report for the AY 202223 analysis of critical issues and changes for this year and also on Recent Judicial Pronouncements for Trade & Industry in Income Tax. Mr. Dharmarajan Ashok, HeadTaxation (Direct Taxes), ITC Limited addressed the Technical Session II on TDS uƒs 194Rƒ194S and other critical and recent issues with regard to Industry perspectives.

Direct Taxes Session was followed by the Session on Indirect Taxes. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Ashish Chandan, Principal Commissioner of CGST addressed the Session on GST Assessment & Scrutinies : A Departmental Perspective and Expectations from Taxpayers. Sri N C Guriya, Joint Commissioner of Revenue, Directorate of Commercial Taxes, Government of West Bengal addressed on the State Government’s expectations from the Taxpayers and also on GST Assessment & Scrutinies from the perspectives of the State Government.

Technical Session III & IV were on Indirect Taxes. Mr. S. K. Panda IRSRetd, ExMember CBIC & Special Secretary to Government of India addressed the audience on GST Past, Present & Forward CBIC & Ministry of Finance’s expectations from taxpayers. How to handle GST Departmental Audit & Scrutinies, from the Industry perspectives was shared by Mr. Jaladhi Roy, Head Indirect Taxes, DIC India Limited. Mr. Vivek Jalan, Chairperson Fiscal Affairs Committee (including Direct Taxes), The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry & Partner, Tax Connect Advisory Services LLP addressed the last session on Handling of GST Departmental Audit & Scrutinies with practical examples, Recent Amendments in GST with sectorwise analysis of GST Notifications, Circulars etc and other recent and critical issues.

The deliberations after each session were followed by an interactive session with the participants. The Webinar was attended by more than 100 delegates.
