Job Fair 2022, APC Ray Polytechnic and Tollygunge Government ITI, 12th and 13th April 2022.
A unique initiative by the Department of Technical Education, Training and Skill Development, Govt. of West Bengal in collaboration with The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry held on 12th and 13th April 2022. Skilled candidates of the State from Polytechnics, ITIs and PBSSD were offered placements at the Job Fair. The two day Job Fair was organized at the premises of APC Ray Polytechnic and Tollygunge Govt. ITI.
Dr. Humayun Kabir, Hon’ble Minister−of−State (IC), Dept. of TET&SD, GoWB presided over the inaugural session held at Acharyya Prafulla Chandra Ray Polytechnic campus on 12th April 2022. The inaugural session was addressed by a host of dignitaries. Janab Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Mayor, KMC & Hon’ble Minister−In−Charge, Dept. of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, GoWB; Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister− In−Charge, Self Help Group and Self Employment, Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, GoWB; Shri Akhil Giri, Hon’ble Minister−of−State (IC), Department of Fisheries, GoWB; Smt. Birbaha Hansda Minister of State for Forest and Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, GoWB; Dr. Krishna Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept. of TET&SD, GoWB. Mr. Gautam Ray, Senior Vice President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Executive Director (HR & Admin.) − CESC Limited & President (HR) − Power Group, RPSG, Mr. Subrata Dutta, Chairperson, Skill Development Committee of The Bengal Chamber was present on the occasion.
Major companies namely−ITC Limited, Exide Industries Limited, Tata Motors (through various dealers), Maruti Suzuki (through Premiere Car World), Paharpur Cooling Towers Ltd, India Carbon Limited & its subsidiaries (Elmac Foods LLP and Amritesh Industries), Motherson Sumi and Yazaki India (through Reliable First Adcon Pvt. Ltd), J&V Human Resources Services Pvt. Ltd., Shivam Autotech (through Inodaya Preceptors Pvt. Ltd.), Saini Hyundai (through Finex Merchants Pvt. Ltd.), R T Networks Solutions Pvt. Ltd., S & IB Services Pvt. Ltd., Navitus Controls & Equipment Pvt. Ltd., Ramaesis RPL, Datre Corporation Ltd. and Security Engineers Pvt. Ltd. have recruiter candidates from the two day Job Fair.
Janab Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Mayor, KMC & Hon’ble Minister− In−Charge, Dept. of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, GoWB spoke about the need for technical education to get jobs in today’s context. He has appreciated the effort taken by the TET&SD and the Chamber for placing a large number of skilled work forces of the State through the Job Fair.
Dr. Humayun Kabir, Hon’ble Minister−of−State (IC), Dept. of TET&SD, GoWB mentioned that the Department of Technical Education, Training, and Skill Development wants to focus on employment, employability in sync with demand of Industry through the Department’s constant initiatives in creating polytechnics, connecting with industry and recreating job fairs, all over the State.
Mr. Gautam Ray, Senior Vice President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry also addressed the inaugural session. He applauded the initiative and mentioned that skilled workforce of a country in a key driver of economic growth and The Bengal Chamber is pleased is to work with TET&SD.
The two day Fair ended with a Closing ceremony on 13th April 2022 at Tollygunge Government ITI. The closing ceremony was addressed by Dr. Humayun Kabir, Hon’ble Minister−of− State (IC), Dept. of TET&SD, GoWB. Mr. Ranjan Sarkar, Co− Chairman People Management Committee, BCC&I, HR & EHS, President Exide Industries Ltd., and Mr. Tanmoy Banerjee, Co−Chairman, Skill Development Committee, Director RT Network Solutions Pvt. Ltd. spoke on Skill Eco−system &recruiters perspective. Shri Debabrata Majumder, Local MLA &MMIC, KMC, and Smt. Jui Biswas, Chairman, KMC Borough 10 was also present. Shri Saibal Sengupta, DVET & Joint Director of Industrial Training, T.E.T. & S.S. Department shared his viewpoint.
The total candidates appeared in the two day Job Fair was 7,146 (Polytechnic – 1,423. ITI – 5,473. PBSSD - 250), total candidates selected was 1,865 (Polytechnic - 428. ITI – 1,375, PBSSD - 62) and total candidates shortlisted was 1,853 (Polytechnic - 204. ITI – 1,610. PBSSD - 39).
