3rd Edition of BCC&I - Step Forward: A Power Session focussed specifically on “How Taking A Step Back Can Actually Drive One Forward”, 24th March 2022, from 4 pm onwards, Virtual.

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the third edition of the BCC&I Step Forward, a specially curated power talk session of BCC&I’s Lifestyle Committee aiming towards “Good Life Happy Living”. The 3rd edition highlighted the importance of stepping back and measuring progress that is as crucial as the action someone should take to advance in the longterm goals. When people take a break and review their own actions, they would clearly see where they are on their journey in life and career, where they need to go next and how others compare to their progress in the past. The session was moderated by Dr. Rupali Basu, Chairperson, Lifestyle Committee, The Bengal Chamber and MD & CEO, Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital Ltd. The session was addressed by esteemed Panelists Dr. Biswajit Ghoshdastidar, Director – General Medicine, Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital Ltd. and Dr. Sabyasachi Mitra, Senior Consultant – Psychiatry, Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital Ltd.

The concept finds its roots to the philosophy of American engineer and management consultant William Edward Deming’s PDCA model. That is, PLAN-DO-CHECK-ACT. This was where Dr. Basu preferred to make an addition and called it the PDC(S), cycle where S stands for STOP. So, it’s PLAN- DO-CHECK-STOP-ACT. Where someone is actually taking a step back in a bid to move forward and do better than before. While this was the theory behind the model of self improvement, in our real lives, at work or in the way people lead their lives, they often go through such phases of evaluation and action that ultimately propels them forward.

The session also highlighted the characteristics, causes and consequences of lifestyle diseases that are quite predominant in the current generation. It was also discussed that how detachment from materialistic needs, relationships and experiences can make someone happy in life.

The session was presented by Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital Limited and Digital Media Partner was My Kolkata, The Telegraph Online. The entire session had huge viewership and was well covered by leading media houses.
