The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an Interactive Session with Mr. Zha Liyou, Consul General, The Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, on “Business Opportunities with China” on 18th January 2022 in virtual platform.

Mr. Liyou graced the session along with Dr. Yang Xuhong, Deputy General Manager, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, Mumbai Branch and Mr. Zhang Hongjie, Economic and Commercial Consul, The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata.

Mr. Nick Low, British Deputy High Commissioner of Kolkata joined the session.

The session was also attended by the senior members and stakeholders of the Chamber’s Managing Committee and other Expert Committees. Mr. Zha Liyou highlighted the scenario of China−India economic and trade cooperation in 2021 and the progress of bilateral cooperation in his consular area. He mentioned that Indian companies could firmly grasp the development trend of the Chinese market and be better prepared for more exchanges after the end of the pandemic.

Dr. Yang Xuhong presented the key areas and prospects of cooperation between Chinese and Indian enterprises. Dr. Yang stated that ICBC Mumbai Branch is the only Chinese bank that has been deeply involved in the Indian market for more than 10 years. It provides not only traditional global financial services, but also investment banking to help Indian start−up financing.

The programme was followed by vibrant interactive session. The discussion focused on business opportunities between the two countries, in the fields, including, farm produce, new energy, supply chain and cooperation between chambers of commerce.
