Taipei World Trade Centre, Kolkata (TAITRA), in association with The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I), had organized Taiwan Expo 2021 from 27th to 29th October, on virtual platform. This Expo had exhibitors from different industrial sectors of Taiwan − Home life accessories, Industrial testing & safety equipment, Furniture hardware, Information communication, Tours & Travel to name a few. Some prominent Taiwanese companies which were present in the event included Jye Lian Technologies Ltd, Sheng Yuan Electric Co. Ltd., Bam Boo Lai Ltd., Kuching Travel Service Co, Yuden Tech, OncQue Corporation etc.

The main objective of the event was to develop bilateral trade relations between India and Taiwan and widen the connection between the two countries, both economically and culturally. This was done by conducting dedicated, one− to−one B2B meetings between the Taiwanese exhibitors and relevant and potential Indian buyers engaged in manufacturing, distributing and providing the same line of products or services. Through some intense primary and secondary market surveys, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I) was able to connect with around 108 Indian units located across India. By informing them about the event and helping them realize how fruitful the meetings can be for them and India as a whole, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I) was able to organize a total of 46 one-to-one B2B meetings.

The opening ceremony of the event was hosted in Taiwan. In Kolkata, the event was coordinated from the King’s Bakery, Kolkata. The event commenced at 10.00 AM (IST) on 27th October and the opening ceremony was followed by the one− to−one B2Bs. A total of 18 meetings were conducted virtually on that day. Some eminent Indian organizations which were a part of this event on 27th were Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Ltd., Vinayak Group, Klystron Electronics, SAGS Control Pvt. Ltd., Shree Ganesh Enterprise, Exciting Tales etc.

On 28th October, electrical goods wholesalers like HL Engineering Corporation, construction companies like Merlin Projects Ltd., Belani Group and Orbit Projects Pvt. Ltd., travel companies like Cirrus Adventures and Tour My India, bamboo construction and bamboo product companies like Go- Bamboos, Meera International, Manmayee handicrafts and companies like Navitus Controls, Cosmos Engineering Works, DB Products & Systems, etc were present in the meetings. A total of 22 meetings virtually were organised on this day.

29th October was the last day of the event on which, a total of 6 virtual meetings were conducted. On this day, sanitaryware wholesalers like Bengal Sanitations, electrical goods wholesalers like Ganguly Electricals, construction companies like Ambrus Construction, travel and M.I.C.E companies like Wizard Events and Sai Dot Com, companies like Viotech Electrical Pvt. Ltd. were present in the meetings.

The event was witnessed live by a lot of visitors out of which The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry coordinated and facilitated more than 150 visitors registration and viewing. The companies and the viewers who took part in the event gained knowledge about the international markets and shared their thoughts with each other. The stakeholders of the 3−day expo were pleased with the efforts of TAITRA and The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry to expand the trade relations between India and Taiwan, and wished for more such events in the future.
