The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry successfully launched the "Short Term Online Business Chinese (A1) Certificate Course 2022" on 18th June 2022, in association with The Consulate General of The People's Republic of China in Kolkata; Yunnan University and Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, P.R. China. with 20 participants from organizations such as CESC Limited; Damodar Valley Corporation; Delhi Public School; Exide Industries Limited; Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Bangladesh); Mindtree; Navitus Controls & Equipment Pvt. Ltd.; NEO Enterprise; Om Leather Artdeco(P) Ltd; Tata Steel. We also had international participation from Bangladesh. 

Ms. Ma Xiaoyan-Chinese Project Manager, Yunnan University and Mr. Dong Chengsai-Chinese Teacher, Yunnan University were the Trainers of the said Course. 

The Chamber has embarked on the aforesaid initiative for the business professionals to provide them with the ability to demonstrate goodwill and facilitate international communication at both personal and organizational levels and to enable them to build association and strengthen relationships with the Chinese collaborators and to empower the students to explore their career opportunities related to Chinese Companies or companies having Chinese stakeholders.    

The course was designed for starters, with focus on oral communication in Chinese Language. The starters are able to understand basic rules of the Chinese phonetic system, principles of writing Chinese characters and conduct communication in simple Chinese either in business and daily use.

It was a 60 hours course with weekend morning classes (4 hours per week, total 15 weeks). 

The Opening Ceremony: 

The Opening Ceremony was held on 18^th June 2022. Mr. Zha Liyou, Consul General, The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata; Mr. Xia Jianfeng, Deputy Director General, Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province; Mr. Hu Jin Ming, Vice President, Yunnan University and Ms. Angana Guha Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Director General, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry graced the Opening Ceremony. 

The Closing Ceremony: 

The Closing Ceremony of the said course was held on 24^th September 2022 The Ceremony was graced by Mr. Zhang Hongjie, Economic and Commercial Consul, The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata; Dr. Shen Yun, Deputy-director, Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, Yunnan University; Ms. Wang Ling, Deputy Director of South Asia Division , Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, P. R. China; Dr. Zhou Weiwei, Program Officer for Chinese Language Promotion Center for South and Southeast Asian Countries; Ms Angana Guha Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Director General, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr Sambit Dasgupta, Assistant Director, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with the participants of the Course. 

Joint Certificate by The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry; The Consulate General of The People's Republic of China in Kolkata; Yunnan University and Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Provincial Government has been provided virtually to all participants. The physical certificates will be handed over ceremoniously to the participants shortly.
