Ray of Bengal, 23rd July 2022, Rabindra Tirtha, New Town
In the second half of the programme, the legendary movie of Satyajit Ray ‘Pather Panchali’ was on offer for the audience. Again, as expected it received a great response from everyone present in the auditorium.
Mr. G M Kapur, Chairperson, Heritage Committee, The Bengal Chamber said, “The Bengal Chamber celebrated the Legend’s 101st birth anniversary with great pride through a specially curated Film Screening today of “Pather Panchali” and “Hirak Rajar Deshe” followed by a Panel Discussion on “Relevance of Ray in Today’s Time”. Satyajit Ray is a name that has made Bengal proud and has given Bengal worldwide recognition. His works have justified the rich culture and heritage of Bengal. The movies directed by Ray are rooted in reality and justified an interchange over things that matter. They have touched on various topics that concern the social fabric of our country and at the same time provided immense entertainment. Without his contribution, the world of films would not have been the same. His works are still shown in film schools to help amateur filmmakers learn the ropes of film−making and the art of story−telling. Today’s programme was to perpetuate the memory of this great filmmaker.”
