Fifth Edition of Discussion Forum on Ecological Sustainability in the Industrial Region of India, 30th November 2021, Haldia.


The Chamber has over the last several years, been providing a relevant and sustainable forum towards promoting clean technology access and energy and environment management. A continuous endeavour has been to focus on sustainable development and to disseminate information and educate business, industry and society about the need for balancing industrial growth with ecological stability.

The Chamber believes that addressing the environmental impacts in the industrial region is the need of the hour.

The objective of the Discussion Forum is to bring together the stakeholders of Haldia Industrial Belt, Policy Makers and Industry Leaders to brainstorm and share the best practices and cutting edge technologies to take forward the industrial development of the State with adequate fortification towards vulnerability of ecology.

Industry bodies like Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Haldia Refinery, Exide Industries Ltd, Indorama India Pvt Ltd., Haldia Energy Ltd., Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd., and Haldia Water Services Pvt Ltd. were present to express their views of sustainable development of the city.

This year, the sessions were focused on:

 

  • Session on Ecological Sustainability in the Industrial Region
  • Best Practices for Ecological Sustainability in Industrial Region

 

Mr. Subir Chakraborty, President Designate, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Exide Industries Limited delivered the Welcome address. The Keynote address was delivered by Mr. Partha Ghosh, Executive Director & Refinery Head, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Dr. Sanjay Chakroborty, Chief Manager Environment, Haldia Energy Ltd. (A Subsidiary of CESC Ltd) & Mr. Chiranjib Bhowmik, General Manager Haldia Energy Ltd and Mr. Arun Mondal, Senior Manager Environment, Indorama India Private Limited addressed us in the session on Ecological Sustainability in the Industrial Region. Mr. Krishnakant Singh, Head Production (Industrial) II FACTORY, Exide Industries Ltd, Mr. Saugata Mahindar, Deputy General Manager, Haldia Petro Chemicals Ltd and Mr. Utpal Chakraborty, DGM, Haldia Water Services Pvt Ltd were the key speakers in the session on Best Practices for Ecological Sustainability in Industrial Region.
